Safety & crime

Safety and crime are important social themes that require permanent attention. Developments are so rapid that the security domain must also innovate. Criminals are increasingly shifting their activities to the online world and organised crime is operating more and more professionally. Within this field, Dialogic conducts research into digitisation, for example the use of apps in prisons or the developments in cybercrime.

We also look more broadly at these themes, regularly commissioned by the WODC. For example, we carry out exploratory studies on how crime could best be measured, or we evaluate specific programmes or laws.

In addition, we regularly carry out R&D projects within this field of work. We try to apply new methods to existing data, for example topic modeling on forums or automatic analysis of satellite images.
