Big data statistics on the information society

Big data can be used to collate new and better statistics in a more efficient way. Based on big data collection and developing statistics on the information society, Dialogic devised a strategy for ITU. This is the UN body that deals with promoting and coordinating worldwide access to telecommunication. In that context, ITU’s development branch (ITU-D) collects and publishes at least a hundred indicators for the telecommunication sector, covering more than 200 countries. Big data can provide a great deal of added value, not only by collating existing indicators in novel ways, but also by enabling entirely new indicators.

Dialogic presented its findings at the Worldwide Telecommunications Indicator Summit (WTIS), which took place in Tbilisi (Georgia) in November 2014. In addition, Dialogic contributed to ITU’s report Measuring the Information Society .
